Evan Andre Jackson “Zum” was born on a warm, sunny day on January 30th 1983 in Kingston Jamaica at the Jubilee Hospital. At the age of three (3) he was moved to St. Elizabeth where he stayed until the age of nine (9). Evan attended Herbert Morrison Technical and immediately left for England after graduating, his love for music began at an early age while attending church during the time spend in St. Elizabeth, he was indeed a lover of the drums, it was something he took part in playing at each Sunday School service. In the year of 2010, Zum returned to Jamaica to accomplish his dream after learning music in England by starting a production company namely Good Good Productions in which he started releasing music with popular known acts such as Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Kymani Marley, I-Octane, Busy Signal, Vybez Kartel, Mavado, Sizzla and many others. Over the years Good Good Production has managed to constantly top the charts and has feature many breakout artists at the period such as Alkaline, Masicka, Jahmeil, Yanique Curvy Diva and others, he continued producing great hits and was invited to be a guest judge at the TV Show “Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall”, it was at that time Zum’s considered signing artists to his label, the exploration in this venture ended up with a hit single “Lifestyle” which was song by the Curvy Diva on the Money Mix Riddim which is a part of the company’s huge catalog of hits. Zum’s main goal as said by him is “taking dancehall music to the highest level” and this is something he remains confident in, producing so many hit juggling and standout singles such as the Cure Pain Riddim with various artists has certainly set a reputable standard for the new age producer. Evan has not only dominated producing however he has been an impressive promoter and host, founder of BritJam, one of the largest event kept in the Caribbean hosted in Jamaica’s second city Montego Bay, the event has contributed to tourism and in initial stages brought eyes to the Jamaica Tourist Board which was one of its sponsors, the event was selected as a yearly favorite for many British nationals visiting the island and still stands as one of the largest event hosted in Jamaica since it was now classified as tourist activity, the event brought acts such as Genuine, Drake, Young M.A, Vybez Kartel and many more. Not only BritJam however Zum has kept many surrounding events such as “VYBEZ” in celebration of Vybez Kartel birthday, Zum has sponsored many successful events apart from his and that’s another reason for him to stand out as impressive. Words From Evan “Life to me means friends and family who you can trust and who trusts you. I am pretty much on the happy side of life”
